Dial: Blue and silver with applied steel indexes, subsidiary dials for the seconds, and 30 minutes registers, outer tachometer and pulsometer graduation for 15 pulsations, aperture for the date. Luminous "Baton" hands.

Originally released in 1958, the Transocean is named after the golden age of international travel and transcontinental flight of its creation and bolstered Breitling's proud reputation for creating high quality pilot watches, like the Navitimer before it.
The Transocean, however, presents a more polished, and futuristic look, designed to appeal to a new customer to Breitling: the high-powered, frequent flying business executive of the 1970s.
More attracted to pure aesthetic than the technical functionality of a tool watch, the attention of this new customer base meant great success for the Transocean watch, and for Breitling brand as a whole.
